Pros and cons of WNYC app for iPhone and iPad

WNYC app good for

Ive come to love WNYC and their intelligent approach to radio journalism and witty entertainment. Its a way a Cdn listener can get an Indepth comprehension of the American psyche.
I love this app! I can even listen in the country! Thank you nypr!
The update is miles ahead of the last version, but the programs are "skipping" like a record. It will jump Back up to 30 Seconds and repeat when Im listening to it "live"
I am a New Yorker, currently living elsewhere. I listen to this app everyday, and feel very connected to my native city, and the world. Bravo!
This is a terrific app for streaming WNYC live and for looking at their various materials. The only thing it could use is better buffering support so that when you leave somewhere with a wifi connection, you dont lose it once youre on data. Otherwise, fantastic!

Some bad moments

Of all the apps I’ve used, this is easily the buggiest of them all. I can’t believe that a fine organization such as WNYC would allow such a poorly designed and buggy piece of software to represent such a fine station. Get rid of this and start over. I might suggest you hire whomever did the "This American Life” app as it seems to work flawlessly, and allows access to way more content as well. (Hardware/software: iPhone 4S, ios7)
The app looks impressive with tons of features, However, it crashes often. I restore mu IPod - erased and re-installed the app with same results. I have an older iPod Touch with IOS 6 - this might be the cause
so slow to load, SO SLOW to use, and absolutely buggy with blank menus and blank pages, and completely unresponsive. love your radio programs but this app is pure garbage.
Looks great and the content but s superb. Overall a great app if youre lucky enough to not catch it acting up so its a shame the app often does not work properly. Some issues include the streams not starting (even on wifi), getting stuck on a page because the back button stops responding, and the app just generally being slow. The app shouldnt be so hard to use but its being held back by whatevers going on under the hood.
In theory, its a great app. The reality, however, proves very disappointing. Constantly cuts out. Downloaded it an hour ago and every ten minutes I have to restart the app to keep the live stream going. I expected better from this great radio station.
Others reviewers out there have said the same thing, but I wanted to add my own comments here in hopes that the content owners will see the large number of negative reviews and get the developer of this app to do something. The content available with this app is amazing. The app itself looks good, but has a lot of issues. The most irritating of these issues is that it crashes constantly, or just stops playing and you have to drag it out of your pocket every five minutes and fiddle with it to get it to play. Also, saving content for later listening is really irritating. You have to click to "show more" a hundred times if youre trying to listen to old podcasts, and when you actually listen to saved content it doesnt move it to a "listened to" section when youre done so whenever you finish a saved show it just starts right up again listening to the first show on your list (or something else random that youve already listened to) WNYC, get your developers to fix this app please!!!
